“Would you come with me? We’ll swim the deep blue sea…”

Mermaids have been involved in legends and folklore for centuries and are included in today’s entertainment ranging from popular animated movies to complete novels of their kingdoms and culture. In recent years, professional mermaids or “mermaiding” has become quite popular where individuals of all genders take on a persona, or “mersona”, that tells a tale of their existence and is brought as entertainment to events, renaissance faires, parties, and even used as conservation efforts for ocean awareness. But there are also those out there who have taken up mermaiding as a form of recreation and creative outlets to fulfill a childhood dreams of being a mermaid and exploring the waters. Mermaiding comes in all different styles from makeup, tails, and other costuming pieces and also has led to self-discovery in some individual’s lives.

Below is one such mermaid whom I have the pleasure of working with on a regular basis known as ‘Sirena Sophia’ and we have put together over a half dozen different projects and here are some that I have decided to showcase with you.
